My Creed

The creation of art is a personal statement that is expressed in my sculpture, where I have found a way to express my opinions and my heart's emotions, enabling me to remove superfluous masks and shells and to reach the heart of the subject.  In sculpture, I express my relationship with, and world view of, personal and global matters.  Through my creations, I have touched intimate and personal areas of my life, including separation, intimacy, life and death, instilling my personal experience in the observer and letting it be seen from another point of view.

In recent years, I have been working primarily with wood.  
Working with wood has inspired me with vitality and rootedness and has enabled my statements to attain a deep and sensual expression.  Through the massiveness of the wood and the removal of its layers, I create and arrive at new, personal and sensitive places and situations that touch the heart of the observer and open up a listening channel, providing much food for thought.  All this via the softness and massiveness of the wood, which enables an expression that is not straight forward and which requires the observer to become engrossed in the work.  In actuality, a dialogue is created from abstraction, which penetrates into the essence of the matter.

Most of my works are abstract, and at first glance, may not always bring one to see the heart of the matter.  But as one deepens one's concentration, many motifs reveal themselves from within my personal view of the world.
You can take a massive material like wood or iron and, through it, reach soft and delicate places, connecting with the material from a wide and abstract point of view.
